Latitude Lineup - Click here for Arenas
One day, all festivals will be like this 17th - 20th July, Henham Park, Southwold, Sunrise Coast, Suffolk

The area is as diverse as the rest of the festival, with books, art, music and theatre, heaps of participation and fun, and the opportunity to take something away, from circus skills to handmade crafts to an appreciation of the woodland setting and the nature within it.

Here we celebrate the creativity and skills of local children’s organisations, by placing them at the heart of the area.

There are important new rules relating to children at Latitude this year...all children will require a ticket, though tickets for under 13's (aged 12 or under) will still be free.

The Waveney Valley Woodcraft Folk run dozens of fantastic art & craft workshops all day every day, from model making to clay play, makings masks, wings and dreamcatchers to painting flags and streamers. There are dozens of activities to keep children of all ages busy through the day. They will also be making musical instruments and huge models for the Sunday afternoon Parade. “The Rubbish Monster” - Nutmeg Puppet Company

What if the crisp packet you’d just thrown away came to life and begged you to take it home? This is just what happens to Katie Dumpster as she paddles her boat down the backwaters of the river. As more litter floats downstream from the city and lands on the river-bank causing all kinds of trouble for the birds and animals that live there, Katie can see it's going to be a very strange summer’s day at the hands of the Rubbish Monster. So, Katie and  Lord Pike, the Waterwolf hatch a plan...

The story, told with puppets, live characters, music, songs, a great deal of humour, & audience participation, is an animals’ eye-view of human beings & their wasteful ways.

Suffolk Wildlife Trust return with a host of activities for budding ‘Wildlife Detectives’.  Come and help us hunt for mini-beasts, dip for pond creatures in the lake and find out about the wild beasts in the wood.

You can join us on fun trails in the woodland including ‘Henham’s wildlife super heroes’, make mud faces and sculptures, be animal detectives, and take part in tree games or build a den.  We have two special after-dark bat events planned for Friday and Saturday nights starting at 9.30pm; bring your torch and a sense of adventure.

Or relax in the sunshine and join in ‘wild art’ making insects, wild headdresses, mobiles, poem spirals, flowers and more.

A timetable of all our activities will be posted in the children’s area  - we look forward to seeing you all there.

Junk Funk Wheelie Bin Drumming
Think African Drumming / Taiko / plus Stomp-ish choreographed routines using different sizes of bin, beating, kicking, dropping, flapping lids as well as using heavy duty drumsticks.
Unbelievable fun, hellishly noisy and a great way to getting young people out of bed and involved in music making.

The bins work brilliantly out of doors and Junk Funk bands performed lustily at numerous carnivals and festivals in 2007…if you were at Latitude last year you might remember them leading the kids parade on Sunday afternoon! They’ll be performing again, and holding workshops for eager new drummers. Junk Funk is a project of Suffolk Artlink, a registered Arts Awards Centre offering young people an arts equivalent of the Duke of Edinburgh awards.  www.suffokartlink.org.uk

This year the theme for Suffolk Libraries tents is Treasure Island.  In the baby & toddler tent you can come all day and play with a range of toys plus jump and jiggle to our baby bounce and tot rock sessions – we may even manage a sea shanty or two.  In our other tent there will be books available for all ages of kids, read them there or take them to your tent.  All weekend there will be plenty going on, come and weave a parrot, make a treasure map, write in our pirate’s log book and make some scales for our giant fish.  Kids can collect a stamp a day for visiting the tent and taking part and parents can let us know what would be their desert island books.
